Annual Meeting

Dakota Energy Cooperative, Inc. held its 16th annual meeting on April 5, 2010 at the Huron High School Auditorium. An election for three directors was held. Incumbents Dave Allen, Dave E. Gross and Jeffrey J. Madison were re-elected to three-year terms.
The business meeting began at 7:00 p.m. and was called to order by President Garry Dearborn. Reverend Richard Birr gave the Invocation. During the meeting, reports were given by President Dearborn, Treasurer Gross and Manager Gates. Cooperative Attorney Don Petersen conducted the election of directors.
President Dearborn recognized Directors Dave E. Gross for 15 years, David Allen for 20 years and Delbert Bushong for 30 years of service on the board of directors.
Manager Gates reported on proposed climate change legislation and how it could effect electricity rates. He also recognized Amy Iverson, customer service representative and Larry Miller, senior accountant for 25 years of service

President Dearborn introduced Spencer Chase, one of the 2009 Youth Tour winners. Mr. Chase spoke about the youth tour. President Dearborn introduced Steve Wegman, South Dakota Wind Energy Association's Executive Director who spoke on wind energy.
After the business meeting, prize drawings were held. Norman Neuharth’s name was drawn from the members present and was presented with the $500 cash prize. Director Micheel then drew for an Power Chef electric grill given to Minerva Jacobs and $20 cash prizes. Each member present was given CFL light bulbs.
Prior to the meeting, Central Catering served a delicious dinner to members and guests.
