An electric Marathon water heater offers many advantages over propane or natural-gas units. First of all, the water heater is made from polybutylene. The tank will never rust out and will look good even in a damp environment. The water heater is bowl-shaped on the bottom to permit complete drainage of scale and sediment.
An electric water heater is simple to install because it requires no gas piping or chimney. Dakota Energy offers incentives to make electric water heating your safest, most efficient water heating source. Marathon water heaters come in various sizes and capacities to meet your every need.

The new fully integrated heat pump is the only electric water heater that is ENERGY STAR rated. It also qualifies for federal tax credits of up to $1,500 through December 2010. It has the highest energy factor of any tank-type water heating product and reduces the load on electric utilities. For more information contact Member Services in Huron or Miller

In the past, Dakota Energy has not charged labor and mileage for water heater repairs. Due to the high costs incurred by your Cooperative for the maintenance of water heaters, a charge has been implemented for repair work. Effective April 22, 2010 Dakota Energy Cooperative will replace water heater parts for the cost of material plus a flat rate of $60.00 and a $1.25 per mile charge on water heater service calls during regular working hours. Dakota Energy will waive the material, labor, and mileage if the part failure happens within Marathon's warranty period of five years from the purchase date or six years from the manufacture date and the failure is not caused by improper installation. If you any have questions please contact our Member Services Department. Chad Felderman (605)352-8591 in Huron or Greg Palmer (605)853-2453 in Miller. We thank you for your cooperation.
